The Coaches Sport Philosophy Network (CSPN) exists to help coaches, athletic leaders, and organizations rediscover God’s purpose for sport.
We believe competition is more than determining a winner. It is a powerful opportunity to develop character, cultivate relationships, and pursue excellence together.
Our mission is to equip coaches with a philosophy that transforms not only the way they coach, but also the lives of the athletes they lead.
Our Philosophy
We believe competition is one of God’s greatest tools for developing character, cultivating relationships, and pursuing excellence.
Rather than viewing opponents as obstacles to overcome, we see competition as a shared opportunity to grow, lead, and honor God.
This biblical philosophy is lived out through the core values that guide everything we do.
The Torch
The torch has long represented excellence, unity, and the pursuit of truth.
For CSPN, it symbolizes something even greater.
It represents a philosophy faithfully carried from one generation to the next.
Every coach who embraces this philosophy receives the torch. Every athlete they influence becomes part of its legacy.

Our Core Values
Partnership with others
Partnership is the bedrock of true competition. Competitors need partners who can challenge them to improve, to pursue, and to achieve. Mutual respect and appreciation is essential.
Principles of faith
Coaching philosophy must fundamentally rest on the bedrock principles found in Scripture. Coaches must have a ministry focus, an eternal perspective, and an intentional purpose supported by biblical truth.
Perspective of competition
Competition is about the journey (process), not the destination (outcome). It’s about “what we become” through the competitive experience and not “what we achieve”.
A word from our leader
Coach Scott
After spending a lifetime in classrooms, locker rooms, athletic departments, and on playing fields, I became convinced that sport was never intended to be merely about determining who is better.
Competition is one of God’s greatest classrooms. It teaches discipline, humility, perseverance, courage, and dependence upon others. When coaches understand this, everything changes. Winning becomes a byproduct not the purpose.

- Parents begin celebrating growth instead of simply results.
- Programs become places where character is formed alongside skill.
That is why CSPN exists. My hope is to pass this philosophy to the next generation of coaches who will, in turn, pass it to the athletes they lead.
